Top Hotel in Turkey by Forbes Magazine

Why does this place feel like Disney to visitors? It is simply magical to everyone who stays here. Argos in Cappadocia is what this hotel is called and it takes your breath away when staying here. Visiting Cappadocia is largely about touring: open-air museums, fairy chimneys, otherworldly rock formations, wintertime skiing, and the seemingly mandatory hot air balloon rides.

Argos in Cappadocia

HISTORY
Bankrolled by a Turkish communications and real estate entrepreneur, the 42-room (and counting) hotel was 13 years in the making before it opened in 2010. One of the country’s best-regarded architects spearheaded the project, and dozens more have been involved in the ongoing restoration of a cluster of ruined village buildings that are still so closely integrated with the surrounding town that it’s impossible to guess where the hotel ends and the neighbors begin.

Why this Travel Agency is Simply the BEST

Julius Caesar proclaimed his celebrated words, "Veni, Vidi, Vici (I came, I saw, I conquered)" in Turkey when he defeated the Pontus, a formidable kingdom in the Black Sea region of Turkey.

Veni Vidi Tourism & Travel Agency gives you an experience that will be unforgettable. It not only provides information about Turkey, its culture and people but also testimonials of tourists who have traveled through this agency. The biggest differentiator of this travel agency is the ease and access of its website. Unlike, other agencies which have websites that are messy and unclear to its viewers, Veni Vidi makes it simple. Also, most websites do not risk to put a testimonials section on their website but this agency does in order to show their viewers what others found about traveling with Veni Vidi. Most of the testimonials from tourists expressed their gratitude and experience they had received while in Turkey.

Ven Vidi has many different packaged tours from sightseeing, enjoying the shore, honeymoon, blue cruise/private yacht, and various city packages.
What is nice about Veni Vidi Travel is they split up the Jewish/Muslim/Christian tours that way you will get a specific spiritual experience.

However, you also have the option to customize you own vacation in case you don't like the choices that they have set up. It is actually a really simple design layout in order to get the experience of your dreams.

Please let me know your feedback for this post!

Top Traditional Dance In Turkey

FOLK DANCES OF TURKEY:

On the border between Europe and the Middle East, facing three seas, straddling important trade routes, Turkey has an ancient and complicated culture, which is reflected in the variety of its dances. However, its dance traditions are dominated by the influence of the Ottoman Empire. The dominant dance forms are types of line dance. Turkey is divided in to these cultural regions, which have distinctive dance styles. Trakya (European Turkey), Marmara (on the coast of the Sea of Marmara), Karadeniz (North-Central, on the coast of the Black Sea), Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia. The costumes worn by the dancers are often very colorful and they represent happiness or are very dull when doing a slow, depressing dance.

Participating in a Turkish festival was the most welcoming part about Turkey. Once you see the crowd eagerly waiting to take pictures with you it makes your heart melt at all the little faces. During this Turkish festival they made a pastry for all of us and they gave us these red, juicy and delicious cherries. We danced in a circle at the festival and even got filmed for a television show.

This short video will give you a small version of Turkish festivites.

The hosts announcing the performers and the American students that have travelled to watch the traditional festivities.

The girls that participated in the traditional Turkish dance wore these stunning costumes and gave their all in their performance. The bright colors of red and gold attract the audience to watch the performers. A great marketing tool to focus your audience and their attention.

Turkish Blue Tile

When I was in Istanbul, my host family had invited me over to their uncle's house for dinner. He had a beautiful blue tile that I was fascinated by. It was by their fireplace and he had told me that it was all hand made. I started to think how long would it take someone one to hand paint a piece like this and put it together.

History of the Blue Tile
Tiles are a big part of decor all around the mediterranean and Turkey. The art of Turkish tiles can be traced as far back as the 8th century. There are many rich cultures that are passed down from generation to generation within the Turkish tiles. It started with the Uighurs of the 8th century and later was influenced by the Seljuks and became full bloom in the 13th century. The Seljuks were skillful in mosaic tile that they used for interior decoration, vaults and walls. In the late 15th centure begins the Ottoman era of tile and ceramic making. The Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul is famously known as the Blue Mosque because of the tiles.

Ceramic tiles play a big part in Turkey's economy. Other than oil and carpet, ceramic tiles are also one of the main tourist attractions and exportation products. In the ceramic world, Turkey is one of the largest ceramic producers and exporters in the ceramic tile and sanitary ware sectors.

MADO Restaurant

MADO is a "must see" restaurant when traveling through Turkey. This restaurant not only has great ice cream which is made with "goat milk" but free WiFi.Mado is essentially a chain for gourmet Turkish desserts. Turkish ice cream called "dondurma" is delicious as its creamy and somewhat chewy. Anytime you need something sweet or even salty come to MADO and enjoy the delicious food.

This restaurant prides itself in quality food that not only is attractive on the outside but rich with flavor when eating. This chain of restaurants can be found almost anywhere in Turkey and is very popular among the Turks and the tourists. The ice cream below is cut in individual pieces and when you try to cut it with your fork and knife, it stretches. Not like your usual ice cream that will just melt but this ice cream is different in texture than anything else. Typically, they have many different flavors but my three favorite flavors are vanilla, pistachio, and chocolate.

One more thing, don't forget to ask for some "baklava" with your ice cream, nothing is complete without even a little piece of this pastry. Enjoy!

Coffee history

Merhaba!

When drinking Turkish coffee or "kahve", you can not drink it without noticing the beautiful artistic hand painted saucers and cups. Coffee was introduced to Turkey in 1555 by Syrian traders in Istanbul. Turkey had royal coffee makers who were summoned to serve coffee to the sultans. The coffee makers were known as “kahveciusta” and the entire elaborate ceremony of serving the coffee required the assistance of forty servants.

Women were taught at an early age the proper way to make coffee. Young girls would be judged by their potential husbands on her coffee making skills. A proper wife would have excellent coffee making skills. A man would come to ask the woman for her hand in marriage. However, in the olden days the girl could not make that decision but her job was to serve coffee to the family and potential husband. On the other hand, she was able to express her opinion through coffee. If the coffee was sweet she agreed. If it was not sweet she was indifferent. If the coffee was salty she showed disagreement.

Turkish coffee is part of the lifestyle of the Turks and today is a way of a social gathering at the coffee houses. Turkish coffee is very strong and delicate in taste, so instead of drinking Starbucks all the time give this coffee a shot. This will definitely wake you up and help you take on the day! You can not go to Turkey without visiting a coffee shop or a restaurant to sip on some Turkish coffee. If they offer dessert such as baklava this will satisfy your taste buds even more!

Check out this coffee house call the The House Cafe: http://www.thehousecafe.com/web/21%2C94%2C1%2C1/house_cafe_eng/house_cafe_en_homepage/main_page/the_house_cafe_main_page

Anitakbir (Monumental Tomb) - Ankara

Anitakbir is the Mausoleum of Kemal Atatürk who is Turkey's national hero and father of modern Turkey. Atatürk was the founder and first president of the Turkish republic.

The Mausoleum sits on top of Anittepe hill, which dominates the city of Ankara. It is made of marble and is a mixture of both ancient and modern architectural styles. In order to reach the monument you will walk along an avenue lined with 24 stone Hittite lions. The Hittites used lions on the Lion Gate because they were an important symbol to their culture. Lions were viewed as powerful and strong by the ancient people living in Anatolia.

The Ankara Anitakbir Mausoleum houses a lively collection of memorabilia from Atatürk 's life and work, private library, documents, stamps, coins, cars and books. This underground museum shows you a 3-D presentation of the war scenes and documents the life of the leader of the Turkish Republic.

The Atatürk Mausoleum truly shows you a real insight of Turkish history and the people of Turkey. This shows you who the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was and provides you with a clear understanding of how and why?
